This exhibition opens at the Wits Art Museum.

Join the Wits Arts Museum for the opening of an exhibition named Black µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø Modernisms (1940-1990). This exhibition is part of an extensive µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø art research project, currently being undertaken by leading µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø art scholars from around the world.

The project examines the concepts of modernism and modernity in relation to µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø art. The artworks by over 20 artists, drawn mostly from Wits Art Museum’s permanent collections, will offer insight into the various ‘modernist’ approaches that were of interest to black South µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø artists from the 1950s to the 1990s.
