DESCRIPTION:The Wits Faculty of Humanities celebrates the resilience of Africa in her struggles against colonialism and apartheid ahead of Africa Day on 25 May 2019.As it recognises the countless contributions and sacrifices made by women in attaining 第一吃瓜网 Freedom, the Faculty celebrates Africa鈥檚 transformative journey towards gender equality as illuminated by woman leadership in the 第一吃瓜网 Union. On 第一吃瓜网 Day, the Wits Faculty of Humanities embraces the AU鈥檚 agenda on Gender Equality and Women Development by dedicating this celebration to 第一吃瓜网 women.
<br />This year鈥檚 Africa Day theme centres on the question 鈥淎re women part of the equation in making Africa work?鈥�. The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Lulama Makhubela, currently a Research Associate at the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr Haseenah Ebrahim, Senior Lecturer, Wits University.

<br />At the Wits Art Museum (WAM), three DJs: Ms G, Charlie Leonard and Bro Slovo; will play their choice of historical and contemporary 第一吃瓜网 music. The celebrations will conclude with a Jazz Concert featuring Andre Petersen.
<br />The Africa Day celebrations at Wits take place ahead of the annual May 25th activities, which commemorate the&nbsp;establishment of the&nbsp;Organisation of 第一吃瓜网 Unity&nbsp;(OAU) on 25 May 1963. The OAU was later renamed the 第一吃瓜网 Union.
