BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//TERMINALFOUR//SITEMANAGER V7.3//EN VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART:20251030T180000 LOCATION: DESCRIPTION:Marcela Cabutti is an Argentine artist, currently in a residency at Origins Centre, Wits, as part of BIENALSUR 2025. Marcela Cabutti draws on research into geological and historical archives, in which maps and rocks serve as coordinates for a narrative about time and territory. This project particularly highlights the geological contact zones between the Río de la Plata Craton and the Kalahari Craton in Africa, whose geological similarities indicate a common origin. In Our Wandering Continents the artist proposes a reappraisal of what we usually consider motionless, such as continents and tectonic plates, to restore their status as bodies in slow and constant motion, a process that transcends human perception. By preserving the memory of a past union, rocks become an archive; the map a creative fiction; and the Earth a wandering body.
Marcela Cabutti is an Argentine artist, currently in a residency at Origins Centre, Wits, as part of BIENALSUR 2025. She is a contemporary sculptor whose artwork forms a dialogue with the particularities of space, reconfiguring from the direct relationship with their environment.
