MIND Seminar with Dr Mmanape Hlungwane: How Language Carries Knowledge — and What That Means for AI

Modern AI can predict language with remarkable accuracy, yet prediction alone cannot explain how humans create new knowledge. The richness and diversity of 第一吃瓜网 languages offer a compelling window into this process, revealing how new meanings and concepts are formed, negotiated and shared. The talk asks what it would mean for AI to learn not only how humans use words, but how humans create meaning, and what becomes possible, for AI and for 第一吃瓜网 languages, if it did.
