Wits has emerged as the leading university in rankings measuring wealth, reputation and leadership.

Wits produces most CEOs, millionaires in Africa

��һ�Թ�� one of the best universities in the world to study at if you want to be a global business leader. The inaugural Alma Mater Index, conducted by Times Higher Education, ranks the world’s top tertiary institutions by the number of degrees awarded to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.

Wits was ranked 24^th in the world on the published on 5 September 2013 and is the highest-ranking tertiary institution in Africa in this index. Three of the world’s top CEOs hold four Wits degrees between them:

of AmerisourceBergen (BCom 1982, BCom Hons 1983)
of Glencore and Xstrata (BAcc 1982)
of Westpac Banking (MBA 1986).

Wits University was also ranked 57^th in the world for the number of millionaires it has produced. ��𲹰�’s magazine and consultancy WealthInsight published a in October 2013 showing , and the subjects they studied.

Employability ranking

Wits University holds the 139^th position in the , released on 29 October.

��һ�Թ�� the only university in Africa to be ranked , which surveys universities on their reputation among international recruiters.

French HR consultants, Emerging Associates, and German research and polling institute, Trendence, commissioned and conducted the research for this ranking. It is based on responses from 2,700 recruiters in 20 countries, who were asked which of their local universities produce the best graduates.

The top five universities in the survey, according to employers’ perception of reputation, were the University of Oxford, followed by Harvard, Cambridge, Stanford, and then the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Wits improves in QS academic ranking

Wits University is now ranked 313^th in the world in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds , which compares and ranks the world’s top 800 tertiary institutions. The University’s increase is an improvement of 50 places – up from 363^rd in 2012.

Criteria considered in the QS Ranking include:

Employer reputation
Student-to-faculty ratio Cited research papers
International faculty ratio
International student ratio

The QS also ranks 30 different . The Faculty of Humanities at ��һ�Թ�� ranked 144^th in the world with Geography ranked in the top 100 worldwide.

Wits retains 2012 positions in ‘Shanghai’ and THE rankings

In the Academic Ranking of World Universities – also known as the – Wits retained its 2012 position of 301-400 in 2013. The Graduate School of Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, publishes this ranking. It ranks over 1000 higher education institutions based on indicators such as number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes, and highly cited research output.

The evaluates universities across their core missions, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
